The option to take life insurance early

March 25, 2003 Dr. Douglas Rice Leave a comment

If I were dying and I could use my life insurance now to make me more comfortable, I would love the option to take it early. This is one place financial creativity actually helps someone in need. There are probably investment bankers working on ruining it however! 😉

Investment banks at a disadvantage

March 25, 2003 Dr. Douglas Rice Leave a comment

Banks try to package lots of things with loans. You can’t blame them. They have the client right where they want them. The client wants their loan approved quickly at a low interest rate and therefore is willing to use the banks services for other things as part of the negotiations. Investment banks that don’t do regular banking are at a disadvantage.

Airline miles

March 23, 2003 Dr. Douglas Rice Leave a comment

I was United exec premier back in the good old days when you could get an upgrade and first class had actual silverware. I can’t believe that anyone is going to stick with a United credit card if the airline isn’t going to back the miles. I would assume most would opt for another card with a different airline.
