Pet peeves

Misinformation can be an error or a shady sales trick.

Not listening is one of my favorite pet peeves too! ! Really bad sales practice. I bought a video camera that I have wanted for a long time the other day and it was on sale $50 less than I have ever seen it before. So I rushed down to the store and when the guy got it for me, he did just about everything he could to talk me into another camera. I told him that I have been looking at all the research for months and waiting for a price drop. This is it sell me the camera. Took 15 minutes of my time to get what I wanted. Wow! Will I never go back unless there’s a sale again.

Judgement

Do we really have to be judgmental? To say that we must is to say we can’t be objective, we can’t step back and consider, ponder and wonder without creating a judgement as to good or bad, right or wrong, acceptable or not.

Some old dead philosopher once said, “It is the educated mind that can hold a thought without accepting or rejecting it.” Is that the opposite of judgmental?

Maslow’s pyramid

Has anyone every heard of Bill Bacharach? He sells this system for getting planning clients and although I am not promoting the system, I would like to mention one key ingredient.

He has a way of getting to the heart of the matter with clients and getting them beyond their material desires. Basically, he walks them up Maslow’s pyramid to higher and higher levels until the conclusion is in almost all cases that things are just a way of getting something more out of life. Again, I am not a huge fan of his total package but it does have elements that are special.
